Who can apply?

Jobbsprånget is intended for newcomers with an academic degree in engineering, architecture, science and economy. You need to have proficient English language skills, both spoken and written. In order to participate you must be registered at Arbetsförmedlingen (the Swedish Public Employment Service). 

Priority groups:

  • All persons born outside of Europe that are newcomers (but not with student visa)
  • Unemployed persons with disabilities
  • Unemployed persons born outside Europe
  • All persons born outside of Europe that are newcomers and registered at Swedish Public Employment Service in (Etablerings programme).
  • Newly arrived candidates that are registered in Swedish Public Employment Service and in the Job and development programme

 

What is Jobbsprånget?
Jobbsprånget is a four-month internship (in Swedish “praktik”) programme run by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA). The purpose of the internship is to speed up the introduction to the Swedish labour market and to give candidates a chance to show their potential by actively matching employers with newcomer academics. 150 employers participate in 50 different locations all over Sweden.

 

Internship or job?
Jobbsprånget is an internship (in Swedish “praktik”) for four months. Jobbsprånget is NOT a job.

 

Will I do my internship at Jobbsprånget?
No, Jobbsprånget works as a link between employers and newcomer academics by actively matching applicants with participating employers in Jobbsprångets internship programme. How does the matching work?
Step 1: Create an account and build your profile page
Step 2: Send your application to the employers of interest to you
Step 3: Employers start the recruitment process accordingly and will ”match” with the applicants that seem most suitable

 

Do I get paid?
Jobbsprånget is internship = praktik. The internship is part of an activity program within Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen) and there is no salary during the internship. Instead the candidates receive a monthly allowance within Arbetsförmedlingen’s activity program. The allowance is handled and managed via Försäkringskassan.

 

When is the application period?
Jobbsprånget has two application periods: 16 July – 16 August and 16 December – 16 January.

 

What is the exact meaning of newcomer in Sweden?
According to Arbetsförmedlingen, newcomers are applicants who have been living in Sweden for max 36 months. It can also be candidates from non-european countries according to Arbetsförmedlingens regulations for approving “arbetspraktik” = internship. We from Jobbsprånget say that we welcome applicants from all countries. It might not be that everyone is eligible for internship but it can be a window to the portal and employers in Sweden who are looking for your exact profile. Then we are happy that you still could meet in the system, even though it didn’t lead to an internship

 

Why is Jobbsprånget only targeted for non-EU citizens?
This is Arbetsförmedlingens regulations for approving “arbetspraktik” = internship. We follow their rules as it is a cooperation with them. . 

 

How many newcomer academics are there in Sweden?
According to information from the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen) there are around 8,500 engineers, architects, scientists and economists registered under its Introduction Programme (June 2017).

As the number of newcomers registered in the Introduction Programme will increase from just over 60,000 to 90,000, i.e. a 50-percent increase, the Jobbsprånget target group is expected to increase from 8,500 to around 12,000 individuals. The combined data shows that there will be between 8,000 and 12,000 newcomers with a university degree in the programme’s target groups during the years 2017–2019.

 

Is Jobbsprånget internship appliable for International students studying master’s degree in Sweden?
It depends on two parts: 1. If you are in Sweden with a Student Visa you cannot participate in Jobbsprånget. This according to Arbetsförmedlingens criteria for internship “Arbetspraktik”. 2. In addition to not having a Student Visa your case officer at Arbetsförmedlingen also has to approve that you are eligible for internship.

Jobbsprånget is run by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) www.iva.se
